The Hungarian Biztonsagosinternet.hu hotline has received many reports from children and young people about intimate images being shared online without their consent. These cases are often very distressing, as it’s difficult for them to stop the spread of these photos. To help with this, we now recommend the "Take It Down" service, which helps young people remove harmful images from the internet. In support of this, we’ve recently entered into a partnership to promote the initiative more widely.
As part of this collaboration, we signed a cooperation agreement that strengthens our joint efforts in providing the necessary tools to young people who have become victims of image-based abuse. We translated the "Take It Down" leaflet into Hungarian and turned it into posters and flyers. These materials are now being distributed in schools across the country. As the hotline pillar of the Hungarian SIC we work closely with the Awareness Centre, so we can reach hundreds of young people with these materials. We ensure that they know what to do if they find themselves in a situation where their private images are shared without permission.
We hope this initiative helps young people understand their options and feel more in control if this happens to them. By raising awareness and giving clear guidance, we aim to reduce the harm of these incidents and offer support to those affected.
